What I Learned at Afro Nation 2024: Essential Tips To Know
As Afro Nation 2024 fades into cherished memories, we’re here to share some key lessons learned from this year’s experience. These tips will ensure you’re prepared for all the fun and challenges that come your way next year.
1. Protect Your Valuables: Keep Your Phone and Bag Safe
Afro Nation is all about letting loose and having a great time, but don’t let your guard down when it comes to your valuables. There were countless reports of lost or stolen phones during the festival, which is why I highly recommend investing in a phone strap or crossbody bag. Keeping your belongings secure and close to you is crucial.
2. Pack a Jacket: The Beach Gets Chilly in the Evening
While the days at Afro Nation were warm and sunny, the temperature dropped significantly as the sun went down. If you’re planning to dance the night away on the beach, don’t forget to bring a jacket or sweater. It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement and forget about the cool breeze that hits once the sun sets, so be prepared and stay comfortable.
3. Know the Layout: Golden Ticket Area vs. Pool Area
For those with a Golden Ticket, it’s essential to know that the Golden Ticket area at No Solo Agua is separate from the pool area. If you want to access the pool, be prepared to pay an additional fee, as it’s completely blocked off from the Golden Ticket zone. This can be a bit of a surprise if you’re expecting full access, so plan accordingly to avoid any last-minute frustrations.
4. Pre-Parties and Boat Parties Are a MUST
Daytime events are where the real magic happens. You get to drink and have fun beforehand. By the time evening rolls around, your energy levels might be low, making it difficult to fully enjoy the after-parties. So that’s why you shouldn’t miss out on the pre-parties and boat parties—they set the tone for the entire festival and are a must-experience!
5. Bring Electrolytes: Stay Hydrated and Energised
Afro Nation is all about non-stop dancing and celebrating, but all that fun can take a toll on your body. To combat fatigue and dehydration, we recommend bringing electrolytes with you. After a day of partying, your body will thank you for the extra boost the next morning. It’s all about balance—having fun while staying healthy and energised for the next day.
6. The Festival is Cashless: Charge Your Wristbands in Advance
One of the key things to remember about Afro Nation 2024 is that it’s a completely cashless event. All transactions are made using pre-loaded wristbands. To avoid the hassle of long queues, make sure you charge your wristband with funds before you arrive at the festival. This simple step will save you time and allow you to focus on enjoying the event instead of waiting in line.
7. Plan Your Exit: Beat the Crowd or Stay a Little Longer Leaving
the festival can be a bit chaotic, especially when thousands of people are trying to exit at the same time. If you want to avoid the rush, consider leaving the festival 20 to 30 minutes before it ends. Alternatively, you can stay an extra hour to let the crowds thin out. Either way, planning your exit strategy can make your departure much smoother and more enjoyable.
